Have your Celebration of Life at Alden UMC
The death of a loved one is a difficult experience. We grieve the loss of one who has been
close, but we do not sorrow as those who have no hope. It is our desire and
privilege to minister to the families of our congregation in their time of need.
All members of Alden United Methodist Church and from our community are encouraged to use the church building for funeral services. The day and times must be cleared with Pastor Katie before making funeral plans. Your funeral director can contact the Pastor to make arrangements or you can call the church office to get her contact information.
There can be alternative methods for the conducting of services at the time of death. These
could include a private graveside service for family members as soon after death as possible
and/or a public service of worship (a memorial service) conducted at the church later. The
pastor will be happy to meet with the family to plan any funeral worship arrangements.
TYPES OF SERVICES
All services conducted by the pastor of the church are services of worship for the community of faith. The Pastor will work with the family of the deceased to create a service that celebrates the life of your deceased loved one.
Memorial Service—The Memorial Service is a service in which the body is not present. Interment of the remains in a Service of Committal has either preceded the Memorial Service or will take place at a later time.
Funeral Service—The Funeral Service is a service in which the body is present in either a casket or an urn. The Funeral Service is concluded with a Service of Committal.
Graveside Service—The Graveside Service is a service that takes place at the burial site. The Service of Committal is part of the Graveside Service.
Our Alden UMC Women in Faith group can provide a funeral luncheon in our Fellowship Hall. We ask that you make a donation to cover the cost of purchasing the food served. The Pastor can help with those arrangements.
